Governor

Governor-Elect Mike DeWine (R)

Attorney General, now Governor-Elect Mike DeWine talked about the need for “21stcentury education ideas” during his campaign. A choice supporter, he wants to make sure all options meet kids’ needs. He wants to require virtual charter schools to have a pay-for-performance model that requires students to show competency on end-of-course exams before an online school receives all of its state aid. He also supports increasing career and technical school options for students not on the four-year college path as well as tying state funding to public colleges and universities to job attainment rates to incentivize efforts to help their graduates secure employment. Tying rewards to results is like a crucifix to Dracula for the education Blob.
