A BUSY WEEK IN ADVANCING #StudentsNotSystems:
“All this should help explain why so many — from left to right — are uniting in demanding that education funding bypass this corrupt system and flow directly to parents to make the decision where and how to educate their children.” Jeanne Allen’s piece for Forbes sheds light on the “Extortion” of school reopening, which is echoed by this piece in the Wall Street Journal on teachers unions using Covid-19 as a political weapon.
The movement only grew when Fox News picked up the article and invited Jeanne to join them Wednesday on Fox & Friends to discuss further “Everyone in America who has never realized how political this is needs to wake up and say, if you don’t want to teach my children, give me the money back.”
THIS WEEKEND:
Tune into the Journal Editorial Report at 3 pm when Jeanne joins Wall Street Journal Editorial director Paul Gigot for a more in depth review of school reopening plans.

K-12 EDUCATION IS BIGGEST NATIONAL SECURITY RISK. Take it from one who knows — retired Rear Admiral and Navy Seal William McRaven, who was also Chancellor of the University of Texas System. Fox & Friends: Political extortion? Teachers issue demands before returning to the classroom
CER IN THE NEWS
Fox & Friends | August 5, 2020
Last week, CER’s chief executive, Jeanne Allen, appeared on one of TV’s most popular morning shows, Fox and Friends, to discuss the issue that’s keeping every parent up at night right now: How their kids will be educated when schools reopen.
If you’re like most people, you’re probably thinking about things like online learning and blended learning and personalized learning. You’re worried about outfitting your home with the latest technology and how to ensure that your children don’t fall behind. You may even be considering a microschool in your backyard, as one venture capitalist is doing.
These are the right questions to ask.
Unfortunately, teachers union have a different view. Rather than focusing on the needs of students, they’re leveraging a global pandemic to advance their own political agenda.
What does reopening a school have to do with cancelling rents and mortgages? Must the reopening of public schools compel the cancelling of private schools? To a small, militant group of union leaders, questions like these are what’s truly important.
Indeed, their so-called National Day of Resistance says it all: They’re interested more in resisting innovation and opportunity than in teaching and learning.
Make no mistake: Reopening schools is complicated. Yet one thing is clear: As Jeanne puts it, “Our kids have to be learning in any way, shape or form.”
